Distribution of fucose-related proteins among the fungal tree of life. Enzymes involved in GDP-L-fucose synthesis are denoted with red squares, transferases with green, enzymes involved in degradation of complex compounds with blue and lectins with orange. The partially colored squares denote single occurrences. In the case of Basidiobolus spp. and Endogonales, the distribution of proteins is often outstanding from the rest of their taxa (see Additional file 1). The schematic tree is based on (Davis et al. 2019) and (Spatafora et al. 2016)
